What is the SSS Calamity Loan?

The SSS Calamity Loan is a short-term loan program for eligible members whose residence is in areas declared under state of calamity by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

This emergency loan helps SSS members recover from:

  • Earthquakes
  • Volcanic eruptions
  • Other government-declared calamities

Eligibility Requirements

Contribution Requirements

  • At least 36 monthly contributions
  • 6 contributions posted within the last 12 months before application
  • For SE/VM/OFW members: at least 6 posted contributions under current membership type

Location Requirements

  • Must be a resident of the calamity-declared area
  • Must have suffered damages/loss to property in the calamity-stricken area

  • Registered in My.SSS portal
  • No final benefit granted (retirement/permanent disability)
  • No past due SSS short-term loans

How to Apply Online

Step 1: Prepare Your My.SSS Account

  1. Login to My.SSS Portal or SSS Mobile App
  2. Ensure your account is verified

Step 2: Enroll Disbursement Account

  1. Go to Disbursement Account Enrollment Module (DAEM)
  2. Enroll your bank account for loan proceeds
  3. Wait for account verification

Step 3: Submit Application

  1. Navigate to Calamity Loan section
  2. Complete the application form
  3. Submit during the open application period

Step 4: Wait for Approval and Disbursement

Loan proceeds are credited via:

  • UMID-ATM Card (if activated)
  • Bank Transfer (PESONet) to enrolled account

Important Rules and Conditions

Loan Default

  • 6+ missed payments = Loan default
  • Defaulted loan becomes immediately due and demandable

Unpaid calamity loans will be deducted from:

  • Employed members: Final benefits (disability/retirement/death)
  • SE/VM members: Short-term benefits (sickness/maternity) or final benefits

Future Loan Eligibility

Existing calamity loan must be fully paid before you can apply for another one.

For Employed Members

Employers must:

  • Certify the employee’s loan application
  • Confirm the employee is currently employed
  • Ensure net take-home pay covers the deduction
  • Collect and remit monthly amortizations through payroll
