How SSS Contributions Work in 2025

The Social Security System (SSS) is a government-run social insurance program in the Philippines. Both employees and employers contribute to this fund, which provides benefits like retirement pensions, disability benefits, sickness benefits, and maternity benefits.

2025 Update: As mandated by Republic Act No. 11199 (Social Security Act of 2018), the contribution rate increased to 15% starting January 2025, up from 14% in 2024. The maximum MSC also increased to ₱35,000.

Official SSS Circulars (January 2025)

The SSS issued separate contribution tables for different member types. Download the official tables from the SSS Contribution Table page:

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the SSS contribution rate for 2025?
The SSS contribution rate for 2025 is 15% of your Monthly Salary Credit (MSC). For employed members, this is split between 5% employee share and 10% employer share. Self-employed, voluntary, and OFW members pay the full 15%.
What is the minimum and maximum SSS contribution for 2025?
For 2025, the minimum Monthly Salary Credit (MSC) is ₱5,000 (₱750 total contribution) and the maximum MSC is ₱35,000 (₱5,250 total contribution). Your actual contribution depends on your salary bracket.
How is SSS contribution calculated?
SSS contribution is calculated based on your Monthly Salary Credit (MSC), not your exact salary. Your salary is matched to the nearest MSC bracket, then the 15% rate is applied. For example, if your salary is ₱25,000, your MSC is ₱25,000, and your total contribution is ₱3,750 (employee pays ₱1,250, employer pays ₱2,500).
Do OFWs pay the same SSS contribution rate?
Yes, OFWs pay the same 15% contribution rate. However, since OFWs don't have employers in the Philippines, they pay the full 15% themselves. The minimum MSC for land-based OFWs is ₱8,000 (₱1,200 monthly contribution).

Age-based rules: OFWs under 55 can change their MSC freely within a calendar year. OFWs aged 55 and above are limited to one MSC increase per year, advancing only one salary bracket at a time.
What is the MySSS Pension Booster?
The MySSS Pension Booster is a mandatory provident fund for members with MSC above ₱20,000. A portion of contributions exceeding this threshold goes to the Pension Booster to enhance retirement savings beyond the regular SSS pension.
